Mar 6, 2020 - Mar 8, 2020
On this weekend retreat, we will use Yin asanas (passive-static postures), Hatha-yoga asanas (active-static postures), Pranayamas (yogic breathing techniques), and Yoga Nidra (sleep meditation) to dive deep into the heart of seated meditation or Zazen.
If you do not already know how to do seated meditation (or Zazen) and walking meditation (or Kinhin), you will receive instruction on the first evening. This retreat, however, is not just for people new to meditation. By re-connecting Zen with it’s yogic-roots we will enliven and deepen our practice and hopefully break-through to a new relationship with our meditation practice, ourselves, and the world we live in.
After years of teaching meditation to people in different ways, I strongly feel that to dive right in with this weekend retreat is one of the best ways to be introduced to the practice and to establish a daily meditation practice. If you’ve been struggling to get a regular home meditation practice going this weekend can be just what you need to get you started or back on track.
You do not need prior experience with Zen or with yoga to attend, all levels welcome. However, please arrive with an open heart and mind and set the intention to do your best with all the practices. As my Zen teacher likes to say, “Zazen is hard work”!
The available accommodations are listed below. Pricing includes all meals. If the cost is a concern then please consider sleeping on one of the couches pictured below.
All practices will be led by Douglas Johnson E-RYT 500, YACEP
