This class is based on the fluid sequences and movements taught by Paul and Suzee Grilley of Yin Yoga fame. They are meant to be a “Yang” (active) complement to Yin (passive) Yoga and is great for Yin practitioners looking to move their chi!
The class will be a combination of gentle Yang movements like the ‘Finger Fans’, ‘Willows in the Wind’ and ‘Four-Part Taoist Breath’ as well as more active sequences like the ‘Golden Seed’, ‘Warrior Advance & Retreat’, and ‘Flying Dragon’. These movements and sequences help to circulate and harmonize subtle energy (chi/prana) as well as strengthen muscle and bone, two things that Yin yoga does not do.
This class is accessible to all levels, including beginners, but can be made to be quite challenging if you should choose to do so. It can be used as a low-impact ‘workout’ to help maintain strength and mobility in the arms, legs, and torso, but the intensity of the class can be modulated by the practitioner quite easily.
