No Thought is Ultimately True – Dharma Talk

Do you believe you know ‘the truth’ about a certain subject? Most people do. Most people think they know the truth about most things, even things they actually know very little about.

And yet, most people disagree about various things. Of course, no one is in complete agreement about everything, right? But still, most people think their thoughts on a subject are the “right” ones.

In my experience, thought – no matter how profound – is simply unable to contain the Truth, which precedes and transcends thought. This is important to understand in today’s environment where people’s stressful thoughts cause them to hate, kill, disempower, and subjugate. On a personal level believing stressful thoughts can help cause anxiety, depression, insomnia, frustration, jealousy, and greed.

Human life could be transformed if people realized that no thought is ultimately true and is therefore not worth losing their peace and joy over. Never let a thought stand in the way of love and compassion, especially thoughts about the past.
