Long Term vs Short Term Effects of Spiritual Practice

Today’s talk is to give some perspective on the difference between long-term and short-term effects and goals. This is especially important for anyone doing spiritual practices as the effects of these practices tend to be felt in the long term, not the short term. In the short term, the effects may be negligible, nonexistent, or even unpleasant.

On the other hand, things that feel good in the short term, like eating chocolate cake, drinking a glass of wine, or having a cigarette, maybe pleasant right now, but the long-term effects of indulging in these things are unpleasant and unhealthy.
