The Pursuit of Perfection Leads to Suffering

Always do your best, but let go of the idea that anything you, or anything you ever do, will be perfect.

Inquiry is a type of guided meditation where I help someone discover what is in the unconscious causing them suffering. When I do this with clients, we usually find a ‘deficiency story.’ A deficiency story is a core sense of not being good enough. This story can drive people to do things like abuse drugs, not pursue a lifelong dream, overeat, cut, seek excessive amounts of money or recognition, or be unwilling to admit fault.

If we can let go of the idea that we or anything we do will ever be perfect, we can stop being so defensive and enjoy life as it is meant to be enjoyed.
